The coal bridge in Aarhus
On a Friday evening in Aarhus, another important step was taken in the development of Kulbroen in Sydhavnen.
A 57-ton bridge section had to be transported through the city and lifted into place between the buildings at Spain. The task required precise planning, close collaboration and the right equipment.
Transport and lifting in one complete setup
The bridge section was transported on an SPMT by Torben Rafn. With several support vehicles and thorough coordination, it was maneuvered safely to the assembly area in the middle of the city.
At the site, our 450-ton mobile crane was ready to lift the section the final distance up to the height and into place.
The weather was snowy and cold. The work took place late in the evening and into the night.
Still, the atmosphere was good. The focus was sharp.
Adjustments along the way
As with many complex lifts, small adjustments were required along the way. The bridge section was adjusted with chain hoists in close collaboration between BMS, Torben Rafn and the customer.
Here the value of experience and respect for each other's expertise was clearly demonstrated. Everyone worked towards the same goal. Safely, efficiently and with an eye on the economics of the project.
When collaboration makes the difference
The coal bridge will become a central connection in Sydhavnen and will link the city and port more closely together.
Being able to help lift the elements that will shape the urban space of the future is something special.
